The Hairdresser of Firawn’s daughter

Monday, March 5, 2012

It was narrated that Ibn Abbaas (Radia Allahu anhu) said: The Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

"On the night on which  I was taken on the Night Journey (Isra') , a beautiful fragance come to me . I said: Oh Jibreel, What is this beautiful fragance? He said: This is the fragance of the hairdresser  of Pharaon's daughter and her childrens. I said: What is their history? He said: Whilst she was combing the hair of Pharaon's daughter one day , the iron comb fell from her hand and she said " Bismillaah" ( In the name of Allah) . The daughter of Pharaon said : My father? She said : No , my Lord and the Lord of your father is Allah. She said: ‘I will tell him about that.’ She said: ‘Yes.’ So she told him and he summoned her and said: ‘O So and so, do you have a Lord other than me?’ She said: ‘Yes, my Lord and your Lord is Allaah.’ He ordered that a baqarah (lit. “cow”) made of copper be heated up, then he ordered that she and her children be thrown into it. She said:I have a request  to make of you. He said: What is your request? She said: ‘I would like my bones and my children’s bones to be gathered together in one cloth and buried.’ He said: ‘This will be done for you.’ He ordered that her children be thrown into it in front of her, one by one, until they came to the last one who was an infant boy who was still being breastfed. It was as she wavered because of him but he said: ‘O mother, go ahead, for the punishment of this world is easier to bear than the punishment of the hereafter.’ So she went ahead.”
Ibn ‘Abbaas (Radia Allahu anhu) said : Four infants spoke: ‘Eesa ibn Maryam (Alehsalam), the companion of Jurayj, the witness of Yoosuf and the son of the hairdresser of Pharaoh’s daughter.

The benefits of Salah

Sunday, December 25, 2011

Allah the Exalted has said:

"And seek help in patience and in prayer. Surely that is something quite difficult on (people) other than people of humility and submissiveness."

And He has said:
O you who believe! Seek help in patience and in prayer! Verily, Allaah is with those who are patient."

And He, the Exalted one, has said:
And command your family to pray, and be patient upon that. We are not asking you for any provisions, (rather) We provide for you, and the favorable outcome is for (those with)taqwaa (consciousness of Allaah that produces righteous actions)"

And in the books of Sunnah is reported that the Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu alyhi wa sallam) used to hasten to prayer whenever and affair disturbed him. And previously discussed was the concept of healing most ailments through prayer before seeking out other ways of dealing with them.
Prayer is something that causes one to receive sustenance.
It is something that safeguards one's physical health.
It keeps away harmful things.
It casts away illness.
It strengthens the heart.
It brightens one's countenance.
It delights the soul.
It gets rid of laziness.
It makes the limbs active.
It increases one's physical strength.
It expands the chest (making one at ease and giving him insight)
It is nourishment for the soul.
It illuminates the heart.
It safeguards one's blessings.
It repels catastrophes.
It keeps away the Shaytaan- the devil.
It draws one close to Ar-Rahman (Allah , the Most Merciful)
And overall  it has an amazing effect on the health of the body and heart , and in strengthening them and expelling harmful pollutants from them.No two people have been afflicted with any disability, disease , or other calamity , except that the portion of the one who prays is less and his outcome is clearner.

Also, prayer has an amazing effect on the evils of the dunyya (the worldly life) and how it repels them, especiallay when the prayer is performed properly and completely , inwardly and outwardly. Nothing keeps the evils of the dunyaat bay and brings on the benefits of it like prayer.

The reason behind this is that prayer is one's connection to Allah , the Mighty and Majestic. so based on the strength of a person's relationship with his Lord , the Mighty and Majestic , the doors of goodness will accordingly be opened up for him, bad things and the reasons for them befalling him will be cut off , and the elements of sucess granted by his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic , will begin pouring in, along with safety and good health, wealth and worldly riches, relaxation , bliss, enjoyment , and all types of joyful affairs will be brought to him, and in an expedient manner, too.

Congratulating the disbelievers in their holidays

Saturday, December 24, 2011

QUESTION: What is the ruling of congratulating the disbelievers in their Christmas celebration ? And how do we respond to them if they greet us with it. And is it permissible to go to the places where they are having celebrations for that purpose. And does the person (Muslim) take a sin if he does the aforementioned without any intent ? Rather he only does it being courteous , or due to shyness or due to being put in an awkward situation, or due to some other reasons . And is it permissible to resemble them in this.

ANSWER: Congratulating the disbelievers in theis Christmas or other than that from their religious holidays is not permissible according to the consensus. As was related by Imam Ibn al Qayyim (Rahimahu Allah) in his book “The ruling on the people beneath the Muslim protection”, when he said:
"As for congratulating the disbelievers for  their religious ceremonies that have kufr (disbelief) attached to it , then it is not permissible according to the consensus. For example congratulating them for their holidays on their fasts, so the person says: “May you have a bless holiday” or he wishes them well for their holiday or something like that. So this , if the one who says it escapes from falling into kufr (disbelief) , is (still) from the impermissible things. And it is in the same level as congratulating them for prostrating to the cross. Ratehr it is a greater sin with Allah. And it is a more severe abomination than to congratulate them for drinking alcohol and killing someone, committing illegal sexual intercouse and things of this nature. And many of the people  who don't have any deen ( or respect for the deen) fall into this. And he doesn't know the ugliness (evil) of what he has done. So whoever congratulates a person for committing sins , or innovations , or disbelief , then he has exposed himself to the hate , wrath (anger) of Allah."

Shaykh Uthaymeen (Rahimahu Allah) continues:
So congratulating the disbelievers on the religious holidays is not permissible , as shown by the proof brought by Ibn  Al Qayyim (Rahimahu Allah). Because in it, (congratulating the kufr in the religious holidays) is an approval for what they are upon from their kufr ceremonies, and showing them that you are please with it. Even if the person is not pleased with the actual kufr itself , it is also not permissible for the Muslim to be pleased with kufr ceremonies , or to congratulate them for it.  Because the Allah , the Exalted is not pleased with that , as Allah the Exalted says:
If you disbelieve, then verily, Allaah is not in need of you, He likes not disbelief for His slaves. And if you are grateful (by being believers), He is pleased therewith for you.” (AzZumar 39: 7)
And the Exalted says:
This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” (Al-Ma'idah 5: 3)
So congratulating them with this is haraam whether this person is your co-worker or not.So if they greet us with their holidays greeting , we don't respond to them with it , because it is not our holiday, and their holidays that Allah is not pleased with it and because it is something that is either innovated in their religion , or it was legislated but has since been abrogated by the deen of Islam that which Mohammed ( Salla Alahu alayhi wa sallam) was sent with to all of the creation. And He (Allaah) says about it (Islam):
And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers”(Aali Imran 3: 85)
And for the Muslims to accept their invitations to these occasions (holiday celebrations) is haram ( impermissible) . Because this is worst that congratulating them with it , because this would entail participating with them in this. Also it is haram for the Muslims to imitate the disbelievers by establishing celebrations for these occasions.or to exchange gifts, or to distribute sweets , or trayts of food , or to stop work or anything like this. Due to the statement of the Prophet ( Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) ,“Whoever imitates a people is from them” and Shaykh Ul Islam Ibn Taymiyah (Rahimahu Allah) said in his book "Follow the straight path and oppose the path to the fire" that:
"Imitating them in some of their celebration causes happiness in their hearts for what they are upon from falsehood. And it is possible that this might encourage them to take advantage of this opportunity to humiliate the weak minded"
And whoever does anything from this is a sinner. And it is the same whether he did it being courteous , or seeking friendship, or due to shyness, or any other reason , because this is from being deceitful in the deen of Allah. And this is from the reasons that reinforce the psyche of the disbelievers and to make them proud of their deen.

The passport of the believer

Saturday, November 26, 2011

Q- I am an Algerian joung man; religiously upright (If Allah Subhanna wills). I have lived in Canada for a long time and I try to leave it as soon as posible. But I do not have a residence to settle down in my country.
So, is it permissible to get the Canadian passport ( with some conditions I will mention later on) since it enables me to leave this country and enter the Gulf States and try to settle there?
And here are the conditions:
  1. Indeed getting the Canadian passport will not invalidate my Algerian nationality , but it will be the original one , this is confirmed by their laws and the Algerian country accepts plurality of nationalities.
  2. I am able to renounce this passport whenever I want , without having problems. This is also confirmed by their laws.
  3. I can avoid the oath of respecting the Queen , her children and the King as long as I sit in the back of the room without uttering a word.
May you be helpful for us ( by your answer) and May Allah bless you.

A- All praise is due to Allah , the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon whom Allah sent as a Mercy to the Worlds, upon his Family, his Companions and his Brothers till the Day of Resurrection.
It is not allowed to acquire the disbelievers' nationality even with keeping the original one , because of the negative aspects which affect the Muslim's religion and creed. It is enought to know what results from implicit contenment in applying the disbelievers' customs and laws of that country, besides referring to them as judges and showing pride of being a Canadian citizen and all what engenders ; in terms of allegiance and friendship toward them and imitating them in their words and deeds. This contradicts the completeness of faith or nullifies it , according  to the situation. Allah ta'ala said:
﴿لاَ تَجِدُ قوْمًا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِاللهِ وَاليَوْمِ الآخِرِ يُوَآدُّوْنَ مَنْ حَادَّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَو كَانُوا آبآءَهُمْ أَوْ أَبْنَآءَهُم أَوْ إخْوَانَهُم أَوْ عَشِيرَتَهُمْ…﴾ [المجادلة: 22].
Translation of the meaning of the verse:
You (O Mohammad ) will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Mohammad ), even though they were their fathers or their sons or their kindred (people)…". [Al-Mujâdilah (The Woman Who Disputes): 22. So the Muslim is called to complete his religion and increase his faith in calling to Allah ta'ala and showing Islam.
And among the conditions of traveling to the country of disbelief is to manifest the religion and reveal its rites in a complete way without any opposition to any of them; with the capacity of being loyal to the Muslims and disavowal to the disbelievers. And those who are not able to do so are obliged to go back to the place they came from and try hard to look for a job and getr satisfied with littleness and ask Allah for sucess. He is the best Helper and the Best Provider.
The perfect knowledge perform to Allah. Our last prayer is all praise is due to Allah. , the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and Blessing be upon our Prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam), his Family, his Companions and Brothers till the Day of Resurrection.

The history of 'Umar and the Black Stone

Friday, November 4, 2011

Al Bukhari relates that 'Umar (Radia Allahu anhu) came to the Black Stone (performing Tawaf, ring road), kissed it and then said:

"I know that you are a stone that no cause benefict or harm, and if it was not, because I had seen the Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam), kissing you, I would never have kissed you."
Al-Bukhari, Al-Sahih, chapter in what has been said about the Black Stone.

POINTS TO SUGGEST:
  • The eminent Companion and Caliph, 'Umar reminded us in this narrative on pure belief that benefict and harm are not caused by objects created and should not be looked from them. Only Allah has the control over these things.
  • They remind us that acts of worship are taken from the Messenger of Allah, and that a person is not supposed to do their own form of worship, must follow the form of worship which the Prophet teach and practiced.
  • We also learn that once an action is confirmed in the Sunnah, the believer submits and obeys him and practiced because it is confirmed that the Messenger of Allah did, even we do not know the knowledge behind it.
  • This history is also an example of how a responsible person try to clarify and remove any misconceptions that people may have about matters of faith. People had recently left their disbelief and polytheism then 'Umar wanted to make clear that kissing the Black Stone is not in any way as an act of devotion to it, as people used to do with their stone idols.

ABOUT WHO MAKE IMAGENS

Abu Hurairah (Radia Allahu anhu) narrated having heard the Prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

" Allah (Subhanna wa ta'ala) said:Who could be more transgressive that who tries create as I  have created, who believes (defying) an atom, a grain or a barley seed."
Aisha ( Radia Allahu anha) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
"Those who received more punishment in the Day of Resurrection will those that rival with Allah in creation.)
Ibn Abbas (Radia Allahu anhu) related that he heard the Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) to say:
"He who made images will be in the Fire. From every imagen of him, will be a soul by which he will be punished in Hell."
Ibn Abbas (Radia Allahu anhu) narrated that the Prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
"Whoever makes pictures in this life will be required that  he blew a spirit (or soul)into it but he can not do it."
Abú Al‐Haiay narrated that Ali Ibn Abi Talib (Radia Allahu anhu) siad to him:
"Do you want that I send you with the same mission with which the Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) send me?" Do not leave without deleting  any image and nor high grave without leveling."
 CONCLUSIONS
  1. Condemnation for those who make pictures.
  2. The reason behind this prohibition is that it represents bad manners to Allah, who said:" Who can be more transgressive that whoever tries to create as I have created."
  3. The evidence of the infinite power of Allah and the impossibility and debility of those who compete with Allah in the creation, saying : " that create (defying) an atom or a grain or a seed of barley."
  4. These must be the people that receive the worst punishment on the Day of Resurrrection.
  5. Allah will created for each image a soul by which he will be punish in Hell.
  6. They will be asked to inject a spirit (or soul) in the picture.
  7. The delete command to who finds it.

In a room full of insects

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Q- If Tawakkul ( putting trust in Allah) does not mean that you should jump into a pool of water while you can not swim, nor put yourself in danger by a physical movement without previous training, nor sit in a room full of insects without using insecticide and expose oneself to a affliction of a disease, nor live a drawer opened exposing its contents to loss, then what is the meaning of tawakkul? We appreciate  your guidance, and many thanks to you.

A- Tawakkul means that a person should put their trust in Allah (Subhanna wa ta'ala) alone. It is an obligatory act and one of the tenets of Iman (faith). Allah (Subhanna wa ta'ala) says in Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5: 23
"…and put your trust in Allâh if you are believers indeed."
Tawakkul in one of the powerful moral means helping to achieve goals and fulfill purposes.

However a Muslim should combine it with other means, whether they are acts of  'Ibadah (worship) like dua' (suplication), salah (prayer), sadaqah ( voluntary charity) or maintaining the ties of kinship, or other material means which Allah has predestined that their effects follow from their causes like the examples mentioned by the questioner here. We should have tawakkul to follow the way of Allah's  Messenger (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) in this regard as he was the best person who had tawakkul. He used to consider other appropiate material means along with his tawakkul. So whoever ignores the material means thinking that it is sufficient for them to have tawakkul, contradict the way of Allah's Messenger (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam). This type of tawakkul is not permisible. Rather it is, recklessness and not  a Shar'y (Islamic lawful) tawakkul.

May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions!
