When the child is ready for the Deen..?

Monday, February 13, 2012

Question- When should I start teaching my children the religion?

Answer- Teaching the childrens starts when they reach teh age of distinction ( and separation) ; so you begin the teaching of the Islamic unbringing and cultivation.
According to his (Salla Allahuy Alayhi wa sallam) statement:

"Command your children to perform salaat when they reach the age of seven , and punish them (if they don't perform it) when they reach the age of ten , and separate them in the sleeping places " [1]
So when the child attains the age of distinction (separation) thus then, it is an order on the parent to teach them and to cultivate them upon good ; by teaching them the Quran and what is easy from the hadeeth.
And to teach them the rulings of the shariah; which are appropriate ( and are effective) for the age of this child. Like teaching them how to perform wudhoo (ablution) and how to perform salaat , and to teach them the adhkaar (remembrances) when wanting to sleep , and the adhkaar of when waking up , and adhkaar of during eating and drinking. Because when they reach the age of distinction , they start to know and realize what they are being taught , and what are the obligations of them to perform, and what are the things that are prohibited.
Al also ( at this age) they are to be forbidden  from things which are not appropriate to do , and to make it clear to them that these things are not permissible for them to do. Like telling lies, and back biting and like this.
So he ( the parent) do this,  until he cultivates them upon goodness and to upbring them on avoiding evil, from this young age.

And this is a very important matter , in which some of the people have forgotten (and overlooked its importance) concerning their children.
Verily most of the people are not keen and enthusiastic in the issues of commanding their children , nor do they show and present to them the sound Islaamic mannerism.
And they leave them and neglected them. They don't command them to perform salat , nor do they upbring and show them the righteous actions.
And rather they leave them in this state of ignorance and this state of doing acts which are not good ; and (they leave them) to mingle with the evil people , and to wander and roam the streets ; and they overlook and disregard teaching them.

And other matters like these, from the matters which are negatively effecting most of the Muslim youths , because of the negligence of their fathers.

And they , (the parents) are accountable for them ; because Allaah has put on them the accountability regarding their children.
He (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
"Command your children to perform salaat when they reach the age of seven , and punish them (if they don't perform it) when they reach the age of ten , and separate them in the sleeping places " [1]
So this is a command and a responsibility on the fathers.

So the one who does not command his children with salaat ; he becomes a person who has opposed the Prophet (Sala Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) , and hence he has fallen into a sin.
And also he has left off doing something that is obligatory upon him ,something which the Prophet ( salla Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) has made obligatory.

And he ( Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) has also said:
"Each one of you is a shepherd , and all of you are responsible for their own flock (people) " [2]
And some fathers, and it is sad and sorrowful, have become carried away and too busy in the affairs of the worldy life.
And they pay no attention to their children , nor do they keep away any time specifically for their children.
Rather all of their time is all for the affairs of the world.

And this is a great danger which is widespread in the muslim lands. And it has disadvantaged and worsened the upbringing of their children.
Thus they have become , people who are neither good in the religion nor in the worldy life .

And there is no might nor change except by Allaah , The most High , The Most Supreme.

"Each one of you is a shepherd and each one of you is responsible (for his flock). So the ruler is a shepherd and he is responsible, the man is the shepherd of his family and he is responsible, the woman is the shepherd of her home and she is responsible, and the slave is the shepherd of his owner?s wealth and he is responsible. Each one of you is a shepherd, and each one of you is responsible (for his flock)."

As far as is permissible to lie?...

"Umm Kulthum Bint 'Uqbah (Radia Allahu anha) said: The Prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) permitted lying in three situations. During the war, in the reconciliation between people and in the speech by a man to his wife."
(In another narration) The speech by a man to his wife and the speech of a woman to her husband.

Shaykh Albani (Rahimahu Allah) declare:
" I say, that is not in the allowed that a man lie with promises to his wife into something he has not intention of following it. Or he says he bought such and such for a price so and so i.e.more that (the price) real in order to pleasant her- because she may be aware , then it is a reason for her to think ill of her husband , and this is from corruption, not from the correction."

The early married and knowledge

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Is getting married at an early age diverts from gaining knowledge ?

As for saying that getting married at an early age diverts from gaining knowledge and from studying , this is not the case. Rather , the opposite of this is correct because tranquility , peace of mind, and pleasure never cease to be obtained through marriage. These things help the student to reach his goal because , he has peace of mind and his thoughts are not cluttered due to discomfort and this helps him study.

Now in the other hand abstaining from marriage in reality blocks whatever knowledge he wants to attain, because it is not possible to acquire knowledge in a state of confusion and anxiety. However ,if he gets married, his mind is at rest and his soul is at ease. He gets a house to take as a shelter and a wife who relaxes and helps him. These things help him to attain knowledge.

If Allah makes it easy for the student to pursue knowledge. Matrimony does not block the path to knowledge as some believe. for that reason, having children is an enormous blessing in this life and in the next.

The blessing of a daughter

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

By the authority of  Anas Ibn Malik (Radia Allahu anhu) who said:

"The Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: " Whoever takes care of two girls until they reach adulthood , he and I will be like this on the Day of Juzgement" and then next his fingers." (Saheh Muslim)
On the authority of Aishah (Radia Allahu anha) who said:

" A lady along with her two daughters came to me asking for some alms, but she found nothing with me except one date which I gave her. She divided it between her to daughters, and did not eat anything herself, and then got up and went away. Then the Prophet ( Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam ) came in and I informed him about this story, he said: “Whoever is put to trial by these daughters and he treats them generously (with benevolence) then these daughters will act as a shield for him from Hellfire.” (Saheh Bukhari and Saheh Muslim)
An Nawawi (Rahimahu Allah) said: They are refered to them because they dislike them by the custom , Allah (Azza wa Jall) said:

(And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.) (Surah An nahl, 58)

An Nawawi (rahimahu Allah) said:  In them are found the merits of being kind with the girls and keeping them and being patient with them and their issues." (Explanation of Saheh Muslim by Imam An Nawawi)

On the authority on Ibn Uqbah  'Aamir ( Radia Allahu anhu) who said:

" I heard the Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) say: Whoever has three daughters and is patient with them and wears them with his wealth , they will be for him a protection from the Fire." (Imam Bukhari in his book Adaabul Al-Mufraad and is the only authentic)
Allah (Subhanna wa ta'ala) says about the rights of women:
"For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good" ( An nisa, 19)

On the other hand , the servant could find many good things in them , in this life and in the other. Since it is sufficient for the believer the fact that what you  do not like but Allah like it, be in it a future benefict:

Raising the Muslims of the future

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

21 points on Raising childrens by the Shaykha Umm ‘Abdillaah al-Waadi’iyyah, (Hafidhaha Allah):
  1. The child should be taught according to his level and understanding. Take an example of that. For example in the first stage , you teach the child about Allah by pointing with your fingers up to the sky.
  2. When you give the child some food be it a peace of bread or something similar, direct him to eating it with his right hand.
  3. If the foot is hot, then do not blow on it, The prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) prohibiting blowed into vessels. If the child sees someone applying this, then you will find him quick to enact it. Likewase are all matters, this is all confirmed, by the statement of the Prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam): “Everyone is born upon the Fitrah, but the parents make him (i.e. the child) a Jew, Christian, or Magian.” And in Saheeh Muslim from the hadeeth of ‘Iyaad bin Hummaar that he said: The Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "Allah, the Exalted, said: "I created my servants Hunafaa’ (upon pure Tawheed), but the devils pre-occupied their attention.”"
  4. When he child is a year and a half or there about, if the child wants to drink or eat, then teach him to say : Bismillah. Thereafer it will become a norm and the child , himself, will say: Bismillah.
  5. When you find that the child is ready and can comprehend the pillars of Islam, Eemaan, and the pillar of Ihsaan, hen teach him. Do not bind teaching him to a set age because the fluency and intellect of children differ.
  6.  Teaching him the legal rulings of Wudoo'.
  7. When he eats from a vessel then say to him that he should eat  what is closest to him.
  8. Make him accustomed to good and excellent (actions). When he reaches the age of seven, then train him to make Salaah.
  9. Separating the children's beds when they reach the age of ten
‘Amr bin Shu’aib on his father on his grandfather that he said: The Messenger of Allaah, (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Order your children to make the Salaah (prayer) when they reach the age of
seven. Beat them about it when they reach the age of ten and separate their beds."
  10. Train him to fast, so long as it does not weaken him, so that when he matures he will be experiences.
  11. Teach your children the authentic ‘Aqeedah (creed and belief) said to him , what the Prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said to ‘Abdullaah bin ‘Abbaas: " I am going to teach you some words. Be mindful of Allah, Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, you will find him in front of you. If you ask , then ask Allah: If you seek aid, then seek aid in Allah. Know that if the entire Ummah were to gather in order to benefict you with something, they could not benefict you, with anything except that Allah has written it for you. And if the entire Ummah were to gather in order to harm you with something, they could no harm you with anything except Allah has written it agains you. The pen has been lifted and the pages have dried."
  12. Advise your child with the admonishment that Luqmaan gave his son, He, the Exalted, said: "And (remember) when Luqmaan said to his son whilst he was advising him. Oh my son!!1 Do not commit Shirk with Allah. Surely, commiting Shirk with Allah is a great oppression..... (Luqmaan,13-19)
  13. Teach him to seek permission before entering.
  14. Teach him about the prohibited affairs so that he can abstain from them.
  15. Explain to him the meaning of the ayaah or the hadeeth that you convey to him.
  16. Fasten his heart to Allah, The Mighty, The Majestic. Some children their heart are fastened to the Dunyya (the life of this world) diplomas and degrees. This hearts are filled with delusions and it is feared that darkness may overtake them (i.e.their hearts).
  17. Concern for memorizing the Quran.
  18. Do not allow your children to mix with incompetent foolish children since he (i.e. your child) will take from their repugnant statements and actions and what he (i.e. your child) has learned will be destroyed.
  19. Do not allow your children to remain outside at dusk since Shaytaan disperses and go out at that time and it is posible that they may harm your child.
Imaam Bukhaaree ( Rahimahu Allah) has stated: It has been related to us by Ishaaq that Ruh informed us that he said that Ibn Juraij informed me that he said: ‘Ataa informed me that he heard Jaabir bin ‘Abdullaah
( Radia Allahu anhu) that he said: The Messenger of Allaah, (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam)
said, When the darkness of the night comes or at dusk, bring your children in since the Shaytaan (Satan) disperses at that time. Then after an hour passes of the night then leave them, and close your doors mentioning the name of Allaah since the Shaytaan (Satan) can not open a closed door.”
  20. Sometimes, leave your child to play by himself since if he is constantly prevented from play, his intellect may become inactive and he will be stricken with boredom.
  21. Encorauge your child to sit amongst the righteous, so this is the righteous mother Umm Sulaym, she brought her son, Anas, to the Prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) and said: " Anas is your servant, oh Messenger of Allah, so supplicate to Allah for him", so he said:
“O Allaah grant him an Abundance of wealth and children and bless him therein".
